Bak Kut Teh with “Fried Bread” (Yau Zhar Kuay) / 肉骨茶和油条

Typical Malaysian fare found in any shopping mall, restaurant or roadside kerb. Pork Belly is cooked in a tasty (sometimes slightly bitter) herbal broth and is served with rice. Side dishes occasionally include “fried bread”, broiled chinese mushrooms, simmered tofu puffs or a plate of simple stir-fried vegetables.

Eaten at:
A hawker stall behind my housing area on a roadside kerb. It’s managed by an old man since before I was probably born.
